BLOG! The Portfolio project is due tomorrow and all that's left is the second CCR. Now, should have I completed this earlier, maybe. However, spring break posed a lot of difficulties in completing my work. I was traveling and moving around a lot so finding some time to film or edit and stay on task was difficult. Also, in many of the places I was in my wifi was terrible. But you know what, we have a little less than 38 hours to turn this project in so we have got to make the most of it! Tonight after practice I will film and tomorrow I will have to edit and eventually submit!
In this blog post, I'm going to make a script answering the questions and unfortunately, due to the circumstances, we will have to change the original idea for this CCR but I will try to make it just as good!
First, let's answer the last 2 questions:
1. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
"Throughout this project, I significantly improved my skills in filmmaking by applying techniques I learned in class and tackling real-world challenges. I explored various camera angles, including over-the-shoulder and high-angle shots, to enhance the visual storytelling aspect of the movie. By incorporating these techniques, I not only made the scenes more visually engaging but also effectively conveyed the narrative. In addition, the Sound Project we did a couple months ago for this class helped me tremendously with sound production during editing. In it, I learned how to layer and adjust sound elements to create a realistic auditory experience for the audience. The editing process for my movie opening involved carefully selecting and editing sound effects, dialogue, and music to complement the visuals and immerse the viewer in the story. Planning played a crucial role in the success of the project. Storyboarding and scripting allowed me to map out the scenes and ensure a coherent narrative structure. However, I also learned the importance of adaptability when faced with challenges. Being flexible and open to improvisation enabled me to overcome obstacles and make creative decisions on the spot. Also, filming extra shots and experimenting with different angles provided me with a diverse range of footage to work with during the editing process."
2. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware, and online – in this project?
"In integrating technology into this project, I utilized a combination of software, hardware, and online resources to enhance the production process. YouTube and YouTube to mp3/mp4 converters were instrumental in sourcing audiovisual elements such as sounds, clips, and music tracks. These platforms provided a vast library of content that enriched the project and contributed to its overall quality. For additional sound effects, I used Pixabay, which is a free online platform used for downloading sounds, royalty-free music, stock videos, and more. Pixaby offers a wide selection of high-quality audio recordings. This allowed me to create a more immersive audio experience by incorporating sounds of nature, showers, and other ambient noises into the movie. In terms of editing software, I initially considered Adobe Premiere but ultimately chose CapCut for its user-friendly interface and compatibility with my workflow. Google Photos served as a convenient storage solution for organizing and accessing my assets, including shots, screenshots, and reference images. However, I encountered challenges during the production process, such as technical difficulties with my USB microphone which I planned to use to record the dialogue for the dinner scene. Despite this setback, I was able to troubleshoot and find alternative solutions to ensure high-quality audio recording. Overall, integrating these technologies into the project enhanced the final outcome and contributed to its overall success."
